How the page decides

Each loose end gets a rent score from 0 to 6 for how hard it nags: how often it pops into your head (often 4, sometimes 2, rarely 0), plus 1 if its next step lives only in your head, plus 1 if you are not sure what the next step is.

The call, first match wins: if you no longer want it done, let it go; if the next step takes under 2 minutes and is up to you, close it now; if the next step is written down and known and it does not pop up often, leave it open; everything else, park it - write one clear next step where you will see it. The first move is the first loose end to close now, else the parked one with the most rent (ties go to the one higher on your list), else the first one to let go. "Rent after the moves" is a rough figure: closed and dropped loose ends charge nothing, a parked one keeps only its pops-up part, and the rest stay as they are.

The page never sees anything but the names and answers you type. Keep phone numbers, addresses and other people's details out of names and notes. A light sorting aid, not professional advice - if unfinished things start to feel overwhelming, talk to someone you trust or a professional.
